Key Features

Auto Alignment Layout Auto Alignment uses the included REC 410 Line RF receiver to position the laser for axis transfer and right-angle layout over long distances, so one person can square up faster. Jobsite Accuracy Leveling accuracy is 3/32 in at 100 ft, and line straightness is 1/8 in at 100 ft, so your layout stays true when you stretch it across a slab or a full room. Corner-Friendly Housing The housing is designed to set up over corners and edges, which is exactly where you need the tool when you are checking square, laying out partitions, or setting forms.

Overview

The Stabila 02180 LA 180L Layout Laser Level Set (Model Number: 02180) is a self-leveling multi-line laser layout station built to establish right angles and transfer layout lines indoors or outdoors. This is a multi-line laser level designed for layout and squaring work, especially when you need repeatable 90 degree reference lines without pulling diagonals all day.

It projects three vertical lines and one horizontal level line, plus a plumb-line function, giving you a full layout reference on floors, walls, and ceilings. In real terms, that means you can set walls, build partitions, and locate anchors off clean laser lines instead of snapping and re-snapping chalk.

The big differentiator is Auto Alignment. With the included REC 410 Line RF receiver, the system can align the laser to the receiver for automatic axis transfer and right-angle creation. Stabila lists the working range with receiver at 300 ft, and the receiver-controlled positioning is specified up to 150 ft for Auto Alignment operation.

Accuracy is what makes a layout tool pay for itself. The LA 180L is rated at 3/32 in at 100 ft for leveling accuracy, with 1/8 in at 100 ft for line straightness, and 3/32 in at 100 ft for the downward laser beam. When you are setting right angles across a large slab or laying out multiple rooms, those numbers translate to less rework and fewer surprises when finishes show up.

It is built for jobsite use, not a delicate finish-room toy. The unit carries an IP 54 protection rating, has a 5 degree self-leveling range, and runs up to 20 hours on batteries. Laser specs are Class 2 with output < 1 mW at 635 nm wavelength.

Setup is straightforward: put it where layout starts. The housing is designed for positioning over corners and over edges (like a slab edge), and it also has a 5/8 in to 11 tripod connection when you want height and full-room coverage.

If you lay out square often, this set is aimed at you. Concrete and form crews, framers, remodelers doing wall layout, and commercial interior guys will get the most out of the right-angle projection and receiver-driven alignment. If you only hang pictures, it is overkill. If you burn time fixing out-of-square layout, it is exactly the point.

Square Layout for One Person

For wall layout and build-outs, this set is about speed and repeatability. Put the lines where you need them, mark, and move on.

• Projects three vertical lines and one horizontal level line, plus plumb-line function
• Visible line and point range: 65 ft (visibility depends on light conditions)

Long-Range Alignment Outdoors

When you need layout to carry across a slab or site conditions wash out the beam, you work off the receiver instead of guessing where the line went.

• Working range with receiver: 300 ft
• Measuring range of set receiver: 328 ft

Clean Interior Reference Lines

Inside, this tool is a fast way to transfer a consistent datum line across multiple openings and rooms without cumulative tape errors.

• Leveling accuracy: 3/32 in at 100 ft
• Self-leveling range: 5 degrees

Corner Setup That Makes Sense

The housing is built for real layout points. Set it right where the corner is, not a foot away and hoping the math works out.

• Designed to set up over corners
• Tripod connection: 5/8 in to 11

Key Specifications

Compatibility

Receiver Control Auto Alignment works with the included REC 410 Line RF receiver for long-distance alignment and axis transfer. Tripod Mount 5/8 in to 11 tripod connection fits standard construction-grade laser tripods. Power Runs on included D 1.5 V batteries and AA 1.5 V batteries.

Built For

Construction Concrete form layout Framing and partition layout Squaring rooms and corners Axis transfer on floors, walls, and ceilings Indoor and outdoor layout work

Pro Tip

Set the LA 180L directly over the corner you are squaring, then walk the REC 410 receiver out to your far reference point and run Auto Alignment. It is the fastest way to transfer a true axis across a big room or slab without pulling diagonal measurements.
