The Irwin EX-10 Spiral Flute Screw Extractor (52410) is a specialized tool engineered for the precise and effective removal of broken studs, bolts, socket screws, and various fittings. It is a vital component for professional maintenance and repair work, particularly when dealing with broken fasteners that are flush with or recessed below a metal surface. Constructed from high-carbon steel, this extractor is built for use on harder metals. The core of its functionality lies in its aggressive left-hand spiral design. KEY FEATURES AND BENEFITS: Aggressive Left-Hand Spiral: The unique left-hand spiral design ensures that the tool’s grip on the broken fastener becomes stronger as turning resistance increases. This provides reliable extraction, especially from hard metals, and minimizes the chance of slipping or rounding out the hole. High-Carbon Steel Construction: The tool’s high-carbon steel composition offers strength and durability, making it suitable for demanding applications and prolonged use in professional settings. It is specifically designed to handle the forces required for extracting broken metal fasteners. Clear Identification Markings: Each Irwin EX-10 extractor is etched with its size and the recommended drill bit size. This feature saves time and prevents errors by making it simple to select the correct tool and its corresponding pilot drill bit for the task at hand. Versatile Application Range: The EX-10 is specifically designed to remove bolts and screws within the 2-1/8″ to 2-1/2″ size range, including 1-1/4″ NPT and 1-1/4″ BSP fittings. This makes it a multi-purpose solution for a variety of repair and maintenance challenges.SPECIFICATIONS: Part Number: 52410 Type: Spiral Flute Screw Extractor Material: High-Carbon Steel Extractor Size: EX-10 For Bolt Sizes: 2-1/8″ to 2-1/2″ (52 mm – 68 mm) Recommended Drill Bit Size: 1-15/16″ Recommended Tap Size: 1-1/4″ NPT / 1-1/4″ BSP Included in purchase: Single Irwin EX-10 Screw ExtractorHOW TO USE: Safety First: Begin by wearing appropriate eye protection to ensure safety during the extraction process. Prepare the Fastener: Use a center punch to create a divot or indentation at the exact center of the broken screw or bolt. This will guide the drill bit and prevent it from moving off-center. Drill a Pilot Hole: Using the recommended 1-15/16″ drill bit, drill a hole into the center of the broken fastener. Use a cutting oil to lubricate the metal, which will help reduce friction and extend the life of the drill bit. Insert the Extractor: Place the tip of the Irwin EX-10 extractor into the pilot hole you have just drilled. Turn and Extract: Using a tap wrench, crescent wrench, or socket wrench, turn the extractor slowly in a counter-clockwise direction. The spiral flutes will engage and bite into the metal, and with steady pressure, the fastener should begin to loosen and can be fully removed.BENEFITS OF USING IRWIN EX-10 SPIRAL FLUTE SCREW EXTRACTOR (52410): Effective on Hard Metals: The design is optimized for removing broken fasteners from hard metal surfaces without slipping. Increased Gripping Power: The tool’s spiral design ensures the grip becomes stronger as the resistance from the stuck fastener increases, providing a reliable extraction. Professional and Reliable Results: It is a professional-grade tool that offers a dependable solution for challenging repair and maintenance jobs, saving time and preventing further damage to equipment. Easy to Use: With clear instructions and a user-friendly design, the EX-10 allows for a straightforward extraction process. Saves Time and Effort: Instead of having to drill out the entire fastener and potentially re-tapping the hole, this extractor provides a more efficient and less invasive solution.FEATURES: Left-hand spiral design for superior gripping power. Constructed from high-carbon steel for strength. Compatible with a standard tap wrench or adjustable wrench. Etched markings for easy identification of size and drill bit. Specifically designed for hand application. Ideal for removing fasteners that are flush with the surface. Aggressive flute angles for biting into tough materials.
