AutoClean SuctionThe automatic filter cleaning system helps the extractor hold suction during fine-dust work, especially drywall sanding. That means less drop-off as the job goes on and fewer interruptions to clear a loaded filter. Built for Fine DustThis Festool dust extractor starter bundle pairs a HEPA-equipped extractor with disposable liner bags made for drywall applications. It is a practical setup for high-volume dust collection where cleanup speed matters. Jobsite-Friendly SetupLarge wheels, a low center of gravity, hose storage, and top-mounted Systainer support make this easier to move and organize on site. It is set up for real work, not just shop use.

Overview

The Festool CT 36 EI AC HEPA Bluetooth Dust Extractor Starter Bundle is a dust extractor combo kit built around Festool’s CT 36 EI AC extractor and a 5-pack of disposable liner bags for drywall sanding cleanup. This is a HEPA dust extractor starter bundle designed for drywall dust collection, fine dust control, and cleaner tool operation on the jobsite. Model number / SKU: CT36AC STARTER. If you work around drywall dust, silica-related applications, or larger dust-producing tools, this setup matters because it is built to keep airflow up while keeping cleanup contained.

The big selling point here is the AutoClean system. Fine dust is what loads filters fast and kills suction on standard vacuums. Festool’s automatic filter cleaning is meant to keep the filter clear so the machine can maintain stronger airflow during long sanding sessions, especially with a Planex drywall sander. Festool lists up to 137 CFM of airflow and a 9.5 gallon container, which tells you this unit is aimed at sustained collection work, not quick spot cleanup.

This extractor is also set up like a proper jobsite tool. It has automatic tool start, adjustable suction, manual or tool-triggered on/off control, and it can be used for wet or dry pickup. That kind of flexibility matters when one extractor has to move between sanding, sawing, routing, drilling, and general cleanup. The included anti-static hose is lightweight, flexible, and kink-resistant, which makes a difference when you’re dragging it through rooms or around scaffolding instead of fighting a stiff hose all day.

Festool built the CT 36 EI AC around mobility and storage, not just suction. Large wheels, swiveling casters, a low center of gravity, and a locking brake help it move easily and stay put when you need it to. Up top, the flat profile and integrated Sys-Dock let you stack compatible Festool Systainers for transport and storage. If you are already in the Festool system, that is a real convenience because your extractor can double as a rolling base instead of becoming one more awkward thing to haul around.

For dust control, this kit is clearly aimed at fine-particle work. The extractor uses a HEPA filter and is described as an OSHA Table 1 silica dust control solution for specific listed application categories. Festool also calls out that this machine is especially suited to pairing with the Planex drywall sander, where the AutoClean function helps prevent the kind of suction loss that shows up fast with drywall powder. The included disposable liners add another layer of convenience for drywall jobs by making bag changes and disposal cleaner and faster.

Compatibility is worth paying attention to on this model. The included hose is a specialty 36 mm anti-static hose intended for Planex use. Festool specifically notes that, because of the hose connector flange and hose-end size, it may not fit some other tools that use a 27 mm dust port, including some other Festool sanders. It also will not work with Festool cleaning sets that are incompatible with that connector design. That is not a flaw, but it is something you want to know before buying if your main goal is broad small-tool compatibility rather than drywall sanding performance.

Who is this for? Drywall pros are the obvious fit, especially anyone running a Planex or handling high-volume sanding where fine dust management can make or break productivity. Remodelers, painters doing prep, and contractors who need serious dust collection for larger machines can also get real use from it. If you want a compact shop vacuum for occasional cleanup, this is overkill. If you need a serious Festool dust extractor for drywall sanding, fine dust collection, and cleaner transportable setup on active jobs, this bundle is a smart way to start.

Built to Keep Fine Dust Moving

Fine dust is where cheap vacuums give up. The Festool CT 36 EI AC setup is made to keep collecting during long sanding sessions instead of fading as the filter loads up.

Pro Tip

If you’re using this mainly for drywall sanding, keep an eye on the AutoClean setting so you maintain suction without overthinking the machine. Also check your tool’s dust port before ordering accessories, because this 36 mm Planex hose is not the same fit as Festool’s smaller 27 mm setup.

Tool Nut’s Take

Tool Nut’s Take

Festool CT 36 EI AC HEPA Bluetooth Dust Extractor Starter Bundle for Serious Drywall Dust Control

This is the kind of extractor bundle that makes sense when dust control is part of the job, not an afterthought.

• Who it’s for: Drywall contractors, remodelers, and Festool users who need reliable fine-dust collection, especially with Planex sanding setups.
• Why it stands out: The AutoClean function, HEPA filtration, high airflow, and included liner bags make it much better suited to drywall dust than a standard shop vacuum.
• Worth knowing: This package is purpose-built. The included 36 mm hose is great for Planex use, but it is not the universal answer for every smaller Festool dust port.

Common Questions

• Is this a regular shop vacuum? No. This is a HEPA dust extractor starter bundle designed for fine dust collection, especially drywall sanding and similar high-dust work.
• Can it be used for wet and dry pickup? Yes. Festool states that the extractor can be used wet or dry.
• What tool is it primarily designed to work with? Festool specifically positions the CT 36 EI AC for use with the Planex and Planex Easy drywall sanders.
• Will the included hose fit every Festool tool? Not necessarily. Festool notes that the 36 mm hose and connector flange may not be compatible with some tools that use a 27 mm dust port.
